Answer Types

Authoritative

-answer is contained in servers zone files (master or slave) although response comes from it's cached data for performance reasons

Non-Authoritative

-answer comes from the name servers cache which is populated by replies to queries it has sent to Authoritative servers
-these servers are most often used in private networks to improve performance and reduce outbound DNS requests
